Harlow and InfoNetrix Team Up for GIS & Mobile Computing Market Study
New Orleans, LA (May 1, 2002) – InfoNetrix™, has selected Chris Harlow of Advanced Information Management Group (Birmingham, AL) to conduct the strategic market research component of its GIS & Mobile Computing Strategic Market Intelligence Report due out this fall (2002). Under their agreement, Harlow – a veteran information systems consultant and publisher – will conduct and coordinate research interviews with GIS and mobile computing suppliers, users and other participants in the North American electric utility sector.

“Effective research and analysis of the diverse GIS and mobile computing market requires an individual with a unique combination of market knowledge, technical savvy and research skills,” says Mike Marullo, InfoNetrix co-founder and Director of Strategic Market Research & Development. “Chris Harlow embodies all of these attributes and more. Not only has he been both a reporter and a forecaster of the business and technical evolution of these market areas through his newsletter (The Harlow Report, now in it’s 25th year of worldwide circulation) for well over two decades,” Marullo continued, “his diverse professional activities and consulting for some of the most prominent organizations in the information systems and technology field make him a superb choice for this assignment and a valued contributor to the InfoNetrix market research and analysis team.”

“I’m certainly pleased to have this opportunity to work with InfoNetrix,” said Harlow, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and an MBA from New York University and has spent his entire career in the information systems and technology field. “This type of market research has been pretty scarce in our industry, and I’m looking forward to helping InfoNetrix fill that void,” Harlow continued. “And, although the name is fairly new, I’ve known the principals of this firm for a long time. Their individual reputations and the quality of the work I’ve seen from them in the past was a big factor in my decision to accept this assignment; I’m looking forward to working closely with them as the project progresses.”
Marullo, who has previously designed, conducted and managed scores of successful market research projects across a wide range of technical markets and applications, will jointly oversee the project along with Tactical Market Research & Development Director and InfoNetrix co-founder, Mike Smith.

Prior to becoming an independent consultant in 1989, Harlow held senior management information systems and technology posts for a large investor-owned utility; a global management consulting firm; and various private enterprises as well as the U.S. Army. Early in his career, Harlow led the design and implementation of an award-winning AM/FM/GIS system for the utility where he served as president of its information systems subsidiary as well as managing the design, development and installation of a country-wide AM/FM/GIS system for an electric utility in Asia. He was also the founding president of AM/FM International, now known as the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA).

The current market focus of InfoNetrix is on electric utilities, but plans are already under way to expand coverage into oil and gas, water/wastewater and municipal government automation markets, both domestically and internationally. InfoNetrix provides periodic executive market briefings, strategic and tactical research reports, market news updates and proprietary consulting services throughout the year in market intelligence programs that are tailored to satisfy the specific needs and interests of its clientele.

InfoNetrix™ is a market research and consulting firm with dual headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana and Sacramento, California. Target clientele includes energy and utility automation suppliers; energy companies; electric, gas and water/wastewater utilities; technical and financial consulting firms; and others with automation market interests.
