Venue Set for InfoNetrix Spring Summit
Atlanta (February 15, 2002) InfoNetrix, a market research
and consulting firm with offices in New Orleans, La. and Sacramento,
Calif. has selected Atlanta (Ga.) as the venue for its first semi-annual
TDMS (Transmission & Distribution Management Systems) Executive
Market Summit. This premiere event is designed to provide marketing
executives, sales directors, product planners, application specialists,
business unit managers and others involved in Transmission and Distribution
Management Systems (TDMS) with a full day of interactive presentations,
candid discussions and networking with utility automation practitioners
and market intelligence experts.
TDMS embraces the full spectrum of electric utility transmission- and
distribution-level automation systems and applications including:
- Energy
Management and Network Security Systems
- Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Substation
Automation
- Distribution
Automation/Distribution Management Systems
Whereas
transmission and distribution have historically been seen by many as
distinctly separate markets, ongoing technological advancements are
facilitating the use of the same or very nearly the same
tools and techniques for T&D at the automation level, contends
Mike Smith, who leads Tactical Market Research and Development for InfoNetrix.
As we continue to analyze TDMS project opportunities among North
American utilities, we see many of the mainstream automation suppliers
serving varied dimensions of both application areas. Although there
are certainly vast differences between a utility EMS (energy management
system) at one end of the spectrum and a distribution management system
(DMS) at the other the need for systems enabling improved customer
service being one such difference the common areas of SCADA and
substation automation inherently share many of the same fundamental
problems and solutions, he concluded.
The principal emphasis of the Spring Summit is on distribution operations.
However, individuals and organizations involved in virtually any facet(s)
of TDMS automation products, systems or services will gain valuable
insights about prevailing market issues and trends, technological directions
and principal drivers that will shape the TDMS market in 2002 and beyond.
(The TDMS Fall Summit, tentatively scheduled for September in Denver,
will add a more comprehensive transmission component to the agenda as
well as a distribution update.)
Never before has the electric utility market seen such fundamental
changes as it has during these times of deregulation and rapid technological
advancement, says InfoNetrix Director of Strategic Market Research
& Development, Mike Marullo. These changes are arguably the
best reason why the availability of timely and reliable market intelligence
is moving up as a priority among top executives throughout the utility
industry , he continued, a trend that is expected to prevail
as deregulation moves forward.
A distinguished slate of speakers from across the utility industry will
share their diverse knowledge, experience, insights and predictions
about the challenges and opportunities that will characterize the evolving
utility automation marketplace in the years ahead. Summit speakers and
topics were specifically chosen for their ability to offer practical
information that can be readily applied to market analyses, management
presentations, product planning and positioning, and related activities.
The meeting will take place from 8AM to 4PM at the Atlanta Airport Marriott
Hotel, located just minutes from Atlantas Hartsfield International
Airport making the venue readily accessible via non-stop flights from/to
most major cities. Free shuttle service between the airport and the
hotel is also available. Registration is $795 per attendee for registrations
received with payment before March 29, 2002 and $895 thereafter. (Visit
www.InfoNetrix.com for the program agenda,
speaker roster and registration details.)
